Zarafa is a sculpture of a life size giraffe’s head designed and created by Yvette. Initially the shape is formed with wire mesh moulded by hand then secured onto a black painted shield for hanging on a wall. The sculpture is then finished by hand with mirrored glass mosaic tiles grouted in place and clear glass eyes inserted into the eye sockets. A true piece of art taking many hours of skill to form the correct shape and finish. A lovely tribute to “Zarafa ” meaning ” fast walker ” one of the first giraffes to be introduced into Europe.
